Dear friends and partners

Some time has passed since my last newsletter. I would like to briefly describe what has happened at Blue Building since then.

At the moment I am spending a lot of time presenting the Blue Building concept in Scotland. I am out and about a lot, meeting with people who are interested, whether it is in the field of environmentally friendly and sustainable building or cleaning up contaminated land. Next Tuesday I will have the opportunity to present our concept to a representative of the Scottish Parliament. Well, we will see...

So I am not resting and hope that my efforts to make our concept known in Scotland will now soon bear the first fruits.

With this email I would like to inform you about another new development:

For various reasons, I have decided to move our domain www.blue-building.org to a new provider. The main work has been done: the site has been completely rebuilt, the move to the new provider has been successfully completed and membership applications can be accepted again.

The members' area currently contains Norbert's environmental reports, such as about air pollution, photovoltaics, his views on climate change, CO2 - a climate killer? and various other things. Also, the photo gallery, in which we have placed our own pictures on the topic of the environment as well as photos of friends, supporters and members of BBO, health tips and our water drop ID test. The members' area is being built up gradually, and we are very grateful for any valuable input.

Even the environmental library, where we publish reports and newspaper articles submitted by readers of our website, is still available.

I would like to thank everyone for your support so far and we will keep in touch - if you like.

With warm greetings from rainy Scotland,
Melanie Stegmann

Dear Friends, dear Members

One thing is certain:

The future of building technology is focussed on sustainable construction. The Blue Building Concept implemented by Blue Building Consulting uses only healthy and recyclable materials, state-of-the-art heating and cooling technologies with airtight construction and super insulation. This will lead to new standards of energy saving that exceed those of passive house buildings. With this video, the Blue Building Environmental Organisation would like to introduce you to the Blue Building Concept, show you some of their completed projects and tell you something about their plans for the future.

Make your voice heard - The first step towards a cleaner Environment

Your support is the first important step towards a cleaner environment

We are all aware of the current environmental situation, changing weather conditions, man-made disasters, and so on. In the last few months alone, there have been devastating news almost daily, including catastrophic floods in Pakistan, heavy rains and hailstorms in France, Spain and Italy, forest fires in the USA, devastating landslides in Uganda, a typhoon in the Philippines and a hurricane in Cuba.

To highlight just 3 examples of the countless “bad news” that have been in our media in recent months:

August 2022

“Fire brigade retrieves almost 160 tonnes of dead fish from Oder and Ner”.

According to an article in the Tagesspiegel of 20 August 2022, the Polish fire brigade says it has so far recovered almost 160 tonnes of dead fish from the Oder and a smaller river. The mass fish kill in the Oder has deeply shaken Germany. Countless fish, mussels, snails and other aquatic organisms died as a result of the environmental disaster. According to a report by the WWF, it is now known that toxins led to the disaster.

October 2022

“Cornwall: ‘Unbearable’ stench of sewage on beauty spot beach”

At the end of October, a video was shot in Trevaunance Bay near St Agnes showing a slurry of polluted water. A local lifeguard said: “The water was grey and foamy and smelled like sewage”. South West Water (SWW) said that a storm overflow was ‘momentarily’ triggered and that other factors were also responsible.

As ‘The Guardian’ reported in early November 2022, ministers admitted that the government does not know how many beaches in England have been closed this year due to sewage pollution.

November 2022

“BP’s latest dirty secret? Oil terminal has been polluting Red Sea and coral reef for decades“

While world leaders are currently arguing about climate damage or global warming from CO2 emissions at COP27 in Egypt, a real climate disaster is taking place not far from the event:

An investigation, the results of which are available to The Telegraph, has revealed that just 65 miles west of the COP27 summit, an oil terminal is illegally dumping large quantities of contaminated water into the Red Sea - and is believed to have been doing so for decades under the joint management of British energy giant BP and its partner, the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC).

What are we doing to our environment?

However, it seems that most people do not have time to actually look for news, information and reports about our environment. We all have our daily problems to solve, at the moment the Football World Cup in Qatar and the Ukraine conflict dominate our thoughts; the news is full of information about political decisions that nobody can understand or even agree with. This kind of information dominates us and there is no time left for research and study about current developments in our environment.

So the idea was born to ask for your support. As Guardian of the Environment, we have obligations to fulfil. One of them is to disseminate updates and reports on the current environmental situation worldwide through our newsletter.

We want your voice to be heard!

Help us collect this news: send us links, news and information about your environment, directly from the area where you are reading this article! News you read today or recently. Under our section “Environmental Library” we want to create a kind of library of environmental news, with links to relevant websites, with pictures and short explanations. Send us these reports. Articles that are not mentioned at all or only marginally in the world press, or mentioned once and forgotten again. It does not only have to be bad news; good news about positive changes or people who are actively doing something for our nature are very welcome! Whatever kind of news you would like to share with us, please make sure that the source is true and reliable and that you do not violate any intellectual property rights. Your message may be published in our News Centre and/or on our website under the heading “Environmental Library”.

Become active now! Become a Guardian of the Environment and help us to collect and disseminate issues and topical information about our environment!

Dear Blue Building friends, members and partners

A lot has happened...

It has been a while since we have been in touch, but a lot has changed that has prompted us to make a fresh start.

It is now almost 6 months since my beloved husband Norbert left us unexpectedly and I have decided to continue the environmental organisation Norbert founded, but not under the name ‘BESEO Ltd’, but under the name ‘Blue Building Environmental Organisation Ltd’.

For the new start we have restructured and updated the content of our website, which is now available under the new domain

https://www.blue-building.org/

For a quick overview, we have created a short video for you in which I briefly introduce myself and our organisation.

YouTube Introduction of the Blue Building Environmental Organisation

We are currently planning to involve our members, followers and all interested parties in a new project called “Environmental News”. More information on this will follow shortly. I hope you are happy for me to add your email address to our Blue Building Environmental Organisation’s marketing mailing list. This way you will receive updates, seasonal greetings and newsletters from now on. If you do not wish to receive newsletters, greetings or circulars from us, you can always use the ‘unsubscribe’ function in the signature of our emails.

We hope to stay in touch, with best regards,

Melanie Stegmann

Dear Blue Building Environmental Organisation Members and Friends

It is with great sadness that I would like to inform you that my husband, our good heart, the most intelligent person I have met in my life, who was generous and passionate, an inventor and enthusiastic environmentalist, the founder of Blue Building Environmental Organisation ; The-Environmentalist Norbert Stegmann, has passed away.

On 7 May 2022, Norbert was taken by ambulance to the Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. From now on, his well-being has been subject to constant ups and downs - but we were both convinced that he would surely recover.

Blue Building - The mission for Good

According to the quote,

“Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.”

we want to create a voice for the environment worldwide together. However, we don't just want words to flow, we want to put them into practice.

Declaration of the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment

Stockholm from 5 to 16 June 1972 (excerpt)*:

“Man has the fundamental right to freedom, equality and adequate conditions of life, in an environment of a quality that permits a life of dignity and well-being, and he bears a solemn responsibility to protect and improve the environment for present and future generations. In this respect, policies promoting or perpetuating apartheid, racial segregation, discrimination, colonial and other forms of oppression and foreign domination stand condemned and must be eliminated.”

“The natural resources of the earth, including the air, water, land, flora and fauna and especially representative samples of natural ecosystems, must be safeguarded for the benefit of present and future generations through careful planning or management, as appropriate.“

“The discharge of toxic substances or of other substances and the release of heat, in such quantities or concentrations as to exceed the capacity of the environment to render them harmless, must be halted in order to ensure that serious or irreversible damage is not inflicted upon ecosystems. The just struggle of the peoples of ill countries against pollution should be supported.”

“Science and technology, as part of their contribution to economic and social development, must be applied to the identification, avoidance and control of environmental risks and the solution of environmental problems and for the common good of mankind.”

Words are the clothing of our thoughts, actions are an expression of our responsibility. Words are like the roots of a tree. One of their purest roots has its origin in responsibility. Responsibility means creating something and not destroying it.

Action means responsibility, even for an action that we do not take.
